On a side note, I filed bug 800613 against Unity which also displays
some of the applications as available for installation but are not. So
that's probably something to do with the indexer.

  Clicking on the "Installed Software" toplevel category, I would expect
  to see a list of all installed software.  Instead, I'm presented with
  a list of all available packages, installed or not.  See screenshot.
