Title:
debconf frontend lost X connection
Status in “grub2” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Binary package hint: grub2
In fact both my machines failed to upgrade from 9.10 cleanly:
1) Acer Aspire 64-bit AMD 4 core hung, had to hard reset which caused
endless fiddling with command-line apt and booting older kernels in
grub. Eventually successful.
2) Siemens Primergy Intel Core 2 duo with 32-bit Ubuntu hung when
about to do grub. It had a silly dialog asking where I wanted to
install grub. How about same as before? Why would I change that?
Instructions were confusing so in apt-get reconfigure I probably made
the wrong choise: /dev/sda1 instead of /dev/sda. After reboot grub
paniced with the "grub rescue" prompt. Had to boot from cd and
reinstall grub.
Conclusion: 1) Now works perfectly but 2) still refuses to respond to
the Logitech DiNovo Bluetooth Keyboard/mouse combo. That could very
well have been the root cause in both cases. I panicked and made a
hard reboot instead of fetching another keyboard. At proper USB
Keyboard and mouse would have gotten me out of there.
