Title:
Ubuntu 64 bit AMD version overwrote Windows 7 partition

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
I created a CD from the ISO OK, and when I ran it,chose the option to
load it alongside an existing OS (half my 1TB disk was a Windows 7 (32
bit) partition and half unused. Without any warning,or chance to back
out, the system said it was going to install accross the whole 1TB
disk, which it did. I have finished up buying a new HDD to re-install
Windows, and buying some data recovery software (which is still
running) to try to recover my data. My fault for not backing up, but
the installer should stop before it decides to use the whole disk, and
should not use the whole disk when you have told it you are going to
install alongside another OS. This is a tremendous inconvenience and
  disappointment
