Bug description:
  Binary package hint: plymouth

  I can only boot to lightdm on kernel 2.6.38-10, even though it doesn't
  appear in synaptic. When I try to boot to either 2.6.39-3 or 3.0.0-0 I
  either get a terminal only login or while in recovery mode choose low
  graphics.

  I have an ATI M880G Mobility Radeon HD 4200 graphic card on a AMD
  Turion(tm) II P540 Dual-Core Processor, 64 bit. On one occasion I
  recall a 'cannot find suitable interface' message while attempting.
