Since you've already rebooted by now undoubtedly, they probably won't be
there anymore. Could you try the installation again, and if it fails
again, those files should be there in the running session? I suggest
using the "Try Ubuntu" option at boot (instead of going straight to the
installer), that way you can get to a web browser and attach those files
more easily if it happens again.
** Summary changed:
- upgrade install to 11.10 using .iso burned CD.../var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman...I have no idea how to access these files for you...so sorry...I'm a frustrated newbie!
+ upgrade install to 11.04 using .iso burned CD

Title:
upgrade install to 11.04 using .iso burned CD
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Binary package hint: ubiquity
I purchased a new computer that had Ubuntu 10.10. I burned the .iso image to a CD for the "standard desktop" called "Natty -alternate-i386.iso". All was going well until the end when the installer crashed and gave me the info above. I am sorry I do not know how to access those files so you may assist me. The message says to "file a new bug report". I looked through every file on the disk and could not located /var/log/syslog or /var/log/partman. I am sorry to be a problem. I would appreciate guidance. Thank you. Frank A Snyder MD
