If I run sudo apt-get update, I get:

Reading package lists... Error!
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/us.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_natty_main_binary-amd64_Packages
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

Title:
update manager could not initialize the package information

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager

I'm running 11.04 on a Lenovo W510 laptop. I was not trying to install
an application or trying to run an update. I get a red circle with a
white horizontal bar through it as an icon in the panel at the top of
the screen. When I click on it (or try to run System -> Update
Manager) I get this error message dialog:

Could not initialize the package information

An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package
  information.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and
  include the following error message:

'E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with
  MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/us.archive.ubuntu
  .com_ubuntu_dists_natty_main_binary-amd64_Packages, E:The package
lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.'
