I have de same problem, the instaler can't write de partition table
because it can't umount /cdrom.
If you do a: "sudo umount -lrf /cdrom" then the instalation continues
but it crashes.
I think because it cannot acces /cdrom data and it cannot mount or
umount /cdrom.
I have a problem houston... because my cdrom is broken and my bios
doesn't boots from usb.
Any help :) I woud like to try ubuntu

i tried to install 11.04 on my vaio x. at first, the installer complained that /cdrom cannot be unmounted, but i do not have a cdrom. the i just did a
"sudo umount -l -r -f /cdrom"
which worked fine, but then it crashed.
