Looks like a local DNS / ipv6 issue.

Maybe you want to disable ipv6 in /etc/sysctl.conf by adding:-

#disable ipv6
net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1
net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1
net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 1

Then reboot, and try the upgrade again.

  Binary package hint: update-manager

  Tried to upgrade from Kubuntu 10.10 to 11.04 after what seemed like
  ages I was told that it "Could not determine the upgrade".
