The update manager does disable the sources but it does not remove what
was installed when the sources were enabled.  Can you attach your
sources.list file?

(Attach it to Launchpad instead of pastie.org - It makes it easier for us to look at.  Thanks.)

  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager

  I get this error when I try to upgrade my distro. I have tried many
  different solutions, but none worked out for me.

  $ lsb_release -rd
  Description:	Ubuntu 10.10
  Release:	10.10

  $ apt-cache policy update-manager
  update-manager:
    Installed: 1:0.142.23
    Candidate: 1:0.142.23
    Version table:
   *** 1:0.142.23 0
