Title:
When entering password to decrypt an encrypted LVM in ubuntu-server
10.04.1, a line of text is output for every single character entered
  at the PW prompt

Status in “plymouth” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: plymouth

ISO testing 10.04.1 Ubuntu Server 64bit.

I have set up an encrypted LVM configuation and installed
successfully. When trying to boot however, when I am presented with
the prompt to enter the password to unlock the LVM, I get a line of
text spit out to the screen for every single keypress when typing the
  password.

For example, after booting the system, I see this:
  Unlocking the disk /dev/disk-by-uuid/cfc3bf8-9da5-4c4d-9ab0-503290a3d378 (sda5_crypt)
        Enter passphrase: :

As I enter the password, the "Unlocking the disk" line is dumped to console with every single keypress, so after entering a 7 character password, I see this:
  Unlocking the disk /dev/disk-by-uuid/cfc3bf8-9da5-4c4d-9ab0-503290a3d378 (sda5_crypt)
  Unlocking the disk /dev/disk-by-uuid/cfc3bf8-9da5-4c4d-9ab0-503290a3d378 (sda5_crypt)
  Unlocking the disk /dev/disk-by-uuid/cfc3bf8-9da5-4c4d-9ab0-503290a3d378 (sda5_crypt)
  Unlocking the disk /dev/disk-by-uuid/cfc3bf8-9da5-4c4d-9ab0-503290a3d378 (sda5_crypt)
  Unlocking the disk /dev/disk-by-uuid/cfc3bf8-9da5-4c4d-9ab0-503290a3d378 (sda5_crypt)
  Unlocking the disk /dev/disk-by-uuid/cfc3bf8-9da5-4c4d-9ab0-503290a3d378 (sda5_crypt)
  Unlocking the disk /dev/disk-by-uuid/cfc3bf8-9da5-4c4d-9ab0-503290a3d378 (sda5_crypt)
        Enter passphrase: :*******

This happens apparently for any keypress other than Enter. So if I
have to hit backspace because I mistyped the password, I get an
additional copy of the "Unlocking the disk" line for each backspace as
  well...

This is seen on my VBox VMs with 64bit 10.04.1 server.
