Title:
No partitions in the install Prepare partitions dialogue when AHCI is
disabled
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Binary package hint: ubiquity
I had similar problems in 8.04 64-bit when I upgraded my hardware.
Now I have the same problem with a fresh upgrade to 8.10 64-bit.
The first time I "solved" this issue by enabling the AHCI mode in the
BIOS of my Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS4 for my brand new SATA disk.
Unfortunately, it takes more time to boot and the system has random
freezes.
This time I want to install without the AHCI, but again there is no
disk or partition in the "Prepare partitions" dialogue!
I believe this is an ugly flaw in the install routine.
Output of sudo fdisk -l
