Public bug reported:
I was installing Xubuntu 11.04 on my Intel Celeron M 1.5GHz laptop, and
it crashed towards the end of the install process. When I left it before
I went to bed, it was slowly downloading updates. Then, when I checked
it in the morning, it said that the installer crashed and to file a bug
report here. The status bar at the bottom of the install window said
"checking for packages to remove", so it crashed at or before this
stage. I was doing an install only, and I didn't have time to go into
live cd mode. I rebooted the with the live cd later (which I'm using
now) to submit this bug report. I looked for the files /var/log/syslog
and /var/log/partman under the root partition of my hard drive, but they
do not exist even when having "show hidden files" selected. The version
of ubiquity is the default one that comes with the live cd. Thanks.
** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
