[Bug 816826] Re: Cannot log in at gdm after dbus upgrade on natty

Thank you for using Ubuntu and reporting a bug. You need to reboot your
system after the upgrade of dbus packages (this is mentioned in
http://www.ubuntu.com/usn/usn-1176-1/ and you should have been prompted
after upgrading). If you haven't already done so, please make sure you
have all the updates applied, then reboot.

I am unable to reproduce this on an up to date Ubuntu 11.04 system after
rebooting. I am able to login successfully into unity-2d and classic
gnome via gdm. I created a new user who is also able to login.

Please report back after rebooting. If this is still a problem, can you
give more information on how to reproduce? Are you using a non-standard
pam configuration?

Title:
Cannot log in at gdm after dbus upgrade on natty

Status in “dbus” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
After the usual "there are some packages to upgrade" task, there is no
way to log into the system anymore at the gdm screen. What I can see
  in the /var/log/auth.log

  Jul 27 09:29:26 oxygene gdm-session-worker[2473]: pam_succeed_if(gdm:auth): requ
irement "user ingroup nopasswdlogin" not met by user "ani"
  Jul 27 09:29:30 oxygene gdm-session-worker[2473]: pam_unix(gdm:session): session
opened for user ani by (uid=0)
  Jul 27 09:29:30 oxygene gdm-session-worker[2473]: pam_ck_connector(gdm:session):
   nox11 mode, ignoring PAM_TTY :0
Jul 27 09:29:34 oxygene gdm-session-worker[2473]: pam_unix(gdm:session): session closed for user ani

I am not sure if it's dbus related problem, I only report it against
dbus, since this upgrade was the only change in my system since
yesterday when it worked fine (also I haven't seen a problem like this
  before yet).

  Upgraded packages were:

  dbus_1.4.6-1ubuntu6.1_i386.deb libdbus-1-3_1.4.6-1ubuntu6.1_i386.deb
  dbus-x11_1.4.6-1ubuntu6.1_i386.deb libdbus-1-dev_1.4.6-1ubuntu6.1_i386.deb

This is a 32 bit x86 natty desktop installation. I find the bug
extreme important, since it's not possible to use the computer now in
a normal way (I can access it through ssh though).
