Title:
Wants to write to ~/.gnupg but dir. doesn't exist

Status in “software-properties” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
The latest version works fine but does show
gpg: fatal: /home/doug/.gnupg: directory does not exist!
secmem usage: 0/0 bytes in 0/0 blocks of pool 0/32768

If I give it the dir. it happily writes a file there - trustdb.gpg -
  gpg: /home/doug/.gnupg/trustdb.gpg: trustdb created
