What is the output of:

apt-cache policy initramfs-tools

and

dpkg -s initramfs-tools > ~/Desktop/dpkg1

(Attach the whole output file from the second command.  It will be on your desktop.)

  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Did a version upgrade from 10.10 o 11.04 and came back to an error
  dialog stating it "Could not install 'initramfs-tools':

  subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit
  status 1.
