  purple-remote doesn't find libpurple instance

Status in “pidgin” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: libpurple-bin

  The command to change the status of my Pidgin session fails:

  raas at pcitadc01:~$ purple-remote "setstatus?status=away&message=AFK" 
  No existing libpurple instance detected.

  although there's Pidgin running. This used to work in Ubuntu Gutsy and
  stopped to after upgrading to Hardy.
