This doesn't work on its own.  Unfortunately we also need revision
1327.95.5 from apt, otherwise I get:

  SystemError: "E:This is not a valid DEB archive, it has no
'data.tar.gz', 'data.tar.bz2' or 'data.tar.lzma' member"
