Title:
  check-new-release-gtk crashed with ImportError in __main__: cannot
  import name GConf

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  This was an auto-generated bug.
  Synaptic had been running and was closed.
  This bug MAY have been caused by compiz or zeitgeist daemon crashing, both of which had already happened.
  If that is the cause, this bug may be invalid.
  I'm just guessing wildly here, but I've been having problems that all MAY have to do with the Lenovo tablet touchpad screen not being recognized properly. My distro is brand-new, and Lenovo has open-source drivers and such, so this should be running like a charm... and yet it's not, and this is my third recent install.
  And... most confusing of all... usually with a bug like this you'd get a dozen duplicates, and that hasn't happened.
  I wanted to mention one other thing...
  My favorite way to update is with aptitude. But suddenly that is not automatically installed. Does this mean that those who install and upgrade with aptitude have less-than optimal upgrades?
