Oops! I honestly didn't notice that.
That's what I was looking for.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to add that to the "View" drop-down menu. For
those who overlook the "show technical items" button, that would be the
next menu to look in.
Again, sorry for the confusion, I probably thought the UI element was
just a label and ignored it without realising it.

Bug description:
Could there be an option to switch to synaptic from the software
center? It's rather irritating to find out the package I'm looking for
is in the repositories, but is not shown in the software center; if
I've just installed something, I still have root privileges, but to
run synaptic I'd have to redundantly authenticate again.
No biggie if this is out of the question due to security concerns, but
as it stands the software center lacks many packages that are
available to synaptic.
