Title:
  ubuntu-desktop should depend/recommend indicator-applet

Status in “ubuntu-meta” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: ubuntu-desktop

I've debootstrapped from the jaunty (9.04) main repos, and installed the ubuntu-desktop metapackage with apt and --no-install-recommends switch.
Upon loading the gnome desktop, an error window appears:
  Title: Error
The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_IndicatorApplet".
Do you want to delete the applet from your configuration?

This can be resolved by installing the indicator-applet -

indicator-applet is not a hard nor recommended dependency of ubuntu-
desktop - if it is used as part of the default gnome desktop layout,
it probably should be (or it should be removed from the desktop
  layout).

  Regards,
  Bernie
