Title:
  Software Center is glitchy

Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Ubuntu Software Center just seems unfinished. When adding "more
items" to an already installed application, each time a check-box is
clicked, the software is unresponsive for 10-20 seconds. I can click
multiple check-boxes in succession, but it takes forever for the UI to
catch up. Also, scrolling after clicking one of the check-boxes is
ridiculously out of sync and it often causes the window to scroll far
away from the viewpoint i've settled on. Scrolling is very
responsive, and the Install button works fine, as long as no
additional items are checked. These problems only show up after an
extra item has been checked. After clicking "Apply changes" the UI
becomes responsive again and i can scroll to the top to view the
  installation progress.

Also, after I added extra repositories (or PPAs... I don't know the
official term as I'm a new Linux user), occasionally when using the
Software Center interface to add packages from third-parties, after
installing one package, when I use the UI to go back to the main
listing, the description text for all of the packages disappear and
the "More Info" and "Install" buttons don't do anything. The only fix
is to close and re-open Software Center, and on rare occasion, Log out
  or Restart the computer completely.

Finally... the Software Center app does not respond well when an
internet connection has been temporarily interrupted (like a temporary
glitch of a wired connection, or temporary loss of signal on a
wireless connection). The UI just displays spinning progress wheels
but becomes completely unable to recover, at which time the
application must be restarted or the entire Ubuntu session must be
  restarted.

I'm a new Linux user, although I have 20 years experience with other
platforms. I am amazed and impressed at how much Ubuntu and the
entire Linux community has matured, and I'm now using Ubuntu as my
ONLY netbook OS and as one of my main desktop OSes. I figured the
best way to get acclimated with Linux was to just jump in headfirst
rather than dual-booting or using a virtual machine. I'm not trying
to pick apart all the hard work that has gone into Ubuntu, and I
absolutely love Software Center and think it's genius (and Linux
package management in general was surely the inspiration for App
Stores on other OSes... a fact that will not be lost on me). My job
is to develop and integrate computing solutions for homes, students,
small businesses, etc. I am converting a lot of people to Linux, so i
am submitting bugs and feedback from the average user perspective. I
think that a few of the problems I've outlined in this report might
cast a dark cloud over an average user's experience, which is why I
believe it is important to be fixed, even if these are just minor
cosmetic and UI issues that don't necessarily impact the stability and
capability of the Ubuntu operating system as a whole.
