Thanks for reporting this. If you start the update-manager from a terminal and click 'settings', does it give out any error info or just freeze?

Title:
  Deepfreeze when settings was clicked

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  ubuntu 11.04 on thinkpad x41

Way to freeze: Fire up the update-manager, click to settings. Now upda
turns grey and stay in this situation, in system monitor i can see
that desktopcouch-se and zeitgeist-daha has turned to zombie. The upda
window denys closing and stopping the task, can only revert to normal
operation with a logout and re-login.
