  Update Manager not updating

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager

  Unfortunately, Update Manager is not updating.  No matter the button I
  click (Install Updates, Check, Options...) it always run what appears
  to be the "Check" function.  It even asks for the admin password.  It
  doesn't seem to want to / be able to install the updates I've
  selected.

  I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, Lucid.  Update Manager v 1:0.348.8
  I've attached an image of Update Manager in the idle state.
