  insufficient information when upgrade to Ubuntu 12.04 fails

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  When using upgrade manager to update to Ubuntu `12.04, it fails saying
  "could not determine the upgrade", citing an unrecoverable problem
  when calculating the upgrade. E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve
  generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.

   This can be caused by:

   * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
   * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
   * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

  If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command
  'ubuntu-bug update-manager' in a terminal.

  It would be very helpful if the error report included information on which installed packages are in conflict with the upgrade, as
  right now you are left completely in the dark.  A painful work around is to format your drive and install 12.04 from scratch,
  and then reinstall any additional packages as needed.
