I would very much appreciate it if you and other contributors to this bug thread would test the latest resolvconf package at https://launchpad.net/~jdthood/+archive/resolvconf.  This package is a release candidate prepared by the Debian maintainers of resolvconf in collaboration with some Ubuntu folks; a package very much like it will be uploaded to Ubuntu repos before too long.  If you test it now you can ensure that any bugs affecting your machines get addressed by us immediately and you can help to improve the quality of the package ultimately uploaded, thus benefitting other users.
