Title:
  do-release-upgrade crashed on live DVD: No module named progress.text

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager-core

  I booted Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 final from a live i386 DVD while the
  laptop was on battery power. Soon after the boot finished and the
  panels appeared, I noticed a crash icon in the notification area. I
  didn't perform any actions that could have lead to the crash.

  The laptop doesn't have Internet connectivity currently, and I was
  unable to submit the 10.04 crash report with my 8.04 apport tool (it
  said "This problem report does not apply to a packaged program.
  (/usr/bin/do-release-upgrade)"). So I'm just attaching the crash
  report as is.

  Some highlights from the crash report:

  ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/do-release-upgrade
  ProcCmdline: /usr/bin/python2.6 /usr/lib/update-manager/check-new-release -q
  Traceback:
   Traceback (most recent call last):
     File "/usr/lib/update-manager/check-new-release", line 5, in <module>
       import apt
     File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/apt/__init__.py", line 25, in <module>
       from apt.package import Package
     File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/apt/package.py", line 42, in <module>
       import apt.progress.text
   ImportError: No module named progress.text

  I think this problem doesn't occur every time because I didn't notice
  any crashes when I booted from the same DVD while on AC power.
