Title:
6.06 to 8.04 fails on PowerPC
Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Binary package hint: update-manager-core
Attached is the main.log from my attempt to upgrade with UpdateManager. It appears that debug creates a repository to satisfy the upgrade and then when fetching from that repository it fails. The repository does not, in fact, exist, being a PowerPC port. There are other arches available at:
"http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/dists/dapper-backports/main/debian-installer/" (like ia64) but not the called for: "binary-powerpc/Packages.gz"
The upgrade fails and the system is returned to previous state. Modifying /etc/apt/sources has no effect and the repository is recreated each time the upgrade is attempted.
apt-cache policy update-manager
update-manager:
Installed: 0.42.2ubuntu22.2
Ubuntu 6.06 on a Mac TiBook PPC 1Ghz
