Title:
Ubuntu crashes when removing HP Simple Save

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
I recently downloaded Ubuntu 11.10. I plugged in my HP Simple Save
backup hardrive, everything was fine. Selected the drive to safely
remove it from the system, got a message that i could safely remove
the Simple Save then computer crashed. I could not move the mouse I
couldn't even turn off the computer, the power button was frozen. I
have never heard of a crash that locks out the power button. Had to
remove the battery on my computer (Samsung R580 laptop) in order to
clear. Was able to boot up and also able to recreate the freeze.
Help please. I am completely new to Ubuntu so talk newbie. Thanks in
  advance.
