[MASTER] Grub does not update menu.lst when it was hand-edited (so it defaults to old 2.6.28 kernel after upgrade to ubuntu 9.10 from 9.04): add 'help' details to debconf prompt

Touchpad not working

Status in “xserver-xorg-input-synaptics” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Binary package hint: hal
Touchpad was working with ubuntu 9.04 but stopped working when I
installed 9.10
=== Diagnosis ===
Run 'uname -a' and determine if the kernel version matches with the current OS (2.6.31 for Karmic). If the kernel version is incorrect, then the problem is likely caused by driver incompatibilities.
=== Fix ===
Modifying the /boot/grub/menu.lst file to include the correct kernel entry to boot into is necessary. Usually, 'sudo update-grub' should be sufficient. Then reboot the computer.
