Looks like its the xorg PPA causing the problem.  It was made for the maverick release.  You will need to remove that PPA and its packages that were installed with it.  Consider using the command line tool 'ppa-purge'.

Bug description:
  As soon as I restarted my computer after upgrading from Ubuntu 11.04
  to 11.10, the error icon appeared on the top panel bar.

  If I try to run the update manager, I also get the following similar
  error.

  Could not calculate the upgrade

  An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

  Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:
  'E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.'
