In your term.log I can see nvidia related error:

Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 3.2.0-3-generic (x86_64)
Consult /var/lib/dkms/nvidia-173/173.14.30/build/make.log for more information.

We should try to eliminate this one before going any further. Please
remove proprietary driver that you downloaded from nvidia and try using
nvidia-current delivered in ubuntu repositories.

Also please try reinstalling the packages that can't be updated wither
using synaptic or with apt-get install 'appname' --reinstall

  Update manager does not install downloaded updates

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  I get a message by update notifier that I have 3 updates to install (screenshot-1), I select show updates, then click on install updates, the first time after about a minute I get the same window of update manager with the same updates to install but it hasen't updated them, I re-click on install updates, I have to wait about 5-6 minutes to get an error message (screenshot-3).
  I rebooted my pc but the problem is still there.
  Before this happening got crash see bug #899633.
