[Bug 875701] [NEW] in ubuntu-11.04 64-bit live, all the partitions are seen under places/computer. When I try to install ubuntu, none of the partitions show up. Only the entire disk is shown (500 GB) and it asks for new partition.

I have a dual boot system
1. Windows XP professional
2. three primary partitions (including WinXP) all NTFS
4. Extended partitions
5. Several logical partitions (4 NTFS, 3 Linux and one Swap]
6. Ubuntu was on one of these Linux partitions
7. Sometime back WinXP partition showed some error and it was not booting into it. Through ubuntu I could access this partition. gparted indicated problems.
8. Through testdisk saw the partitions, unchecked partial cylinders for partitions and saved.
9. Now the above mentioned problem.

I am on a intel gualcore E7500 system with 2Gb RAM.
