Thanks for the feed back. I was able to install it using the advanced
option on boot menu (F6) and select the option noapic and noacpi.

If you need any information to close this bug report please let me know.

Bug description:
  I am having problems to install the new Ubuntu 11.10 on my laptop. I
  have always run Ubuntu on this laptop since version 8.04 and never had
  any problems installing Ubuntu alongside winxp. I am trying to install
  based on a flash drive. I can use the live-usb mode. But during the
