[Bug 898473] Re: Installer crashes before installing boot loader

** Description changed:

I've attempted to install Ubuntu 11.10 about 8 times within the last 24
hours. Sometimes it freezes completely on "saving installed packages",
but most of the time it scans the CD-ROM/USB, says "An attempt to
configure apt to install additional packages from the CD-ROM has
failed", and the installer shuts down and tells me the installation is
complete. However, if I wait long enough to restart, the message
"Installer has crashed" appears, which took me to this site after
clicking on a few buttons. Also, if I attempt to boot my system after
this supposed installation, the blinking underscore flashes until I turn
off my computer because my boot loader is either non-existent or broken.
Ubuntu installer crashes every time I attempt to install the operating
system. It only worked the first time, but I messed up my root password
and was forced to format the hard drive and reinstall Ubuntu. Since
then, it has not worked at all.

- I'm dumb, and I'm not sure how to attach those files....
