Workarounds suggested are valid temporary options, however this bug is
critical to be resolved if btrfs is to be widely adopted for conversion
of existing root filesystems that have been updated from previous
versions of ubuntu. The conversion itself is quite smooth and painless,
however the boot loader should not require the partition to be moved (if
technically feasible)

Title:
  btrfs, core.img too large

Status in “grub2” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: grub2

  Hi,

  grub-install /dev/sda
  gives:
/usr/sbin/grub-setup: Warnung: Your core.img is unusually large. It won't fit in the embedding area.
/usr/sbin/grub-setup: Fehler: Einbettung ist nicht möglich, jedoch erforderlich, weil auf meheren Platten installiert werden soll.
core.img is 31837 bytes. Modules are: biosdisk btrfs part_msdos search_fs_uuid
It should be possible to decrease the size of core.img to fit in the embedding area.
