[Bug 741400] Re: Ubiquity crashed with dirty CD

If the CD is corrupt, there is no way of closing gracefully as Ubiquity
can't complete it's job (which is to install Ubuntu). It's a reasonably
user-friendly way of closing as it at least tells the user what the
cause of the issue it.

As this is too abstract to be a bug and is more of a discussion topic, I
will be closing this bug.

Many thanks,
Timothy

Title:
  Ubiquity crashed with dirty CD

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Opinion

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: ubiquity

Ubiquity was in the process of installing Natty Alpha 3. I said there
was an I/O error because of a dirty or faulty CD, or a dirty drive
lens. This would be my fault of course, but Ubiquity should gracefully
  close down and not crash.

BTW, the slideshow kept running and apport popped up explaining what
needed to be done from there, but the terminal inside Ubiquity
  disappeared and installation stopped.
