Title:
udevd: NAME="%k" breaks kernel supplied names
Status in “udev” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Oneiric i386
reporting an other bug and watching details before sending it, i see this error logged into bootlog:
fsck from util-linux 2.19.1
udevd[328]; NAME="%k" is ignored, because it breaks kernel supplied names, please remove it from /etc/udev/rules.d/50-udev.rules:2.
udevd[328]; NAME="%k" is ignored, because it breaks kernel supplied
names, please remove it from /etc/udev/rules.d/51-nvidiaperm.rules:2
Actual files contain:
-------50-udev.rules:
# user workaround for nvidiactl permission denied
KERNEL=="nvidia*", NAME="%k", GROUP="video"
------51-nvidiaperm.rules:
# user workaround for nvidiactl permission denied
KERNEL=="nvidia*|nvidiactl*", NAME="%k"
It seems that this issue is quite old and have been reported as fixed:
bug #434200, but without changelog and a user have commented after
that "fix" that the issue was still there.
