We don't actually get version information from the server (see https
://software-
center.ubuntu.com/api/2.0/applications/en/ubuntu/natty/i386/).
On a side note, you can edit softwarecenter/distro/__init__.py:
get_codename to always return natty if you want to test for purchase in
oneiric. You then run software-center such that we generate a db, then
you can edit the file back and the natty db will hang around due to a
caching bug.

Version number shown as "unknown" for commercial items
Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
software-center-gtk3 trunk r2209, Ubuntu Ocelot
(Until one of the real for-purchase items is published for Ocelot, you
will need to be a member of the commercial QA team to reproduce this
bug.)
1. Select one of the for-purchase items.
2. Look at the "Version" details.
What you see: Text of the form "hellox (unknown version)"
What you should see: Text of the form "hellox 1.0"
