Bug description:
  Update Manager crashed when I selected a subset of the available
  updates.  I unchecked "Distribution updates" and all packages were
  unchecked.  Then I checked an update for "Empathy" assuming it would
  calculate what else needs to be updated.  Software Center thought for
  a bit then crashed.
