update-manager crashed with TypeError in normalize(): character
mapping must return integer, None or unicode

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I just tried to install updates, but it said that the update manager
closed unexpectedly, and nothing will download. It's worth mentioning
that this happened before it prompted for my password to do the
install. I hope this helps! Thank you.
