Title:
  Installer crashed

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Hi,

after having installed dual boot Windows/Ubuntu 10.04 last week, which worked fine despite some issues with repositories (public signature keys, could not connect to host etc.), drivers, too many primary partitions given to Windows by someone else, monitors, I decided to:
  1. in Windows delete the Ubuntu partitions
  2. on rebooting, I got a grub error message I unfortunately did not take note of, then decided to
  2. boot from DVD Ubuntu 11
  3. wanted to install and re-partition
  3. I am using ubuntu now, but there was an error during the installation I write down now. I also attach the syslog and partman file below.
  - Error message:
  "Installer crashed
Please file a new bug reporta at (...) include the following detail in bug report and attach files /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman"

Thank you so very much for your help and your brilliant documentation. I am not an IT person but as our office IT person is even less experiences in Linux and I have used Ubuntu on other occasions, I dared to give the self-installation and partitiona go after much reading, but something I might have done worng. However, I definitively want to have a dual boot (no virtual machine), yet, I am out of my depth with the occurring error messages and am loosing much time.
  Here the requested details:
  - the software centre "closed unexpectedly and cannot determine package"
  - syslog & partman attached in one document with email txt

  Kind regards, thank you
  Birte
