Title:
ubuntu 10.10 netbook clean install crash

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: ubiquity

when installing ubuntu 10.10 netbook edition on a clean install (wipe
and use entire hard disk). The installer crashes towards the end of
installation. After copying all the files it switches to "configuring
apt" then "scanning CD rom - to allow applications to be installed
from CD" at which point it throws an error "FAILURE -- no CD drive
  found".

Immediately after, you get a warning dialogue saying the installer
crashed. So the evidence points to an issue with the installer not
being able to locate a CD drive, However this being a netbook it has
  no CD drive anyway.
