Addition:

when booting up the fsck messages at first are displayed correctly.
After a few seconds it swiches/changes to the wrong/strange character
set, shortly before X-server starts.

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS
  mountall version: 2.15.3

  During the routine disk check when booting the system, the message for
  the user begins:

  "Your disk drives are being checked for errors, this may take some time
  Checking disc 1 of 1"

  The first line uses "disk" but the second uses "disc". This is
  inconsistent. One spelling should be used in both instances. I suggest
  the "disk" spelling for both, since "disc" usually seems to refer to
  optical media.
