[Bug 828027] Re: plymouth dependency dejavu font missing

In our setup we use FAI for distributing our Linux. The packages (plymouth, too) are fully installed on the local system (and harddisk) with the nfsroot (which is mounted remotely). After that, the initramfs of the local system is updated. and then the local hooks are executed. And there, the font-copy fails. The font-copy will even fail after installation, as long as the font is not installed by any package.
hth :)

ps: what would be the different fixes?

Title:
  plymouth dependency dejavu font missing

Status in “plymouth” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
The plymouth-Package (and his plymouth*-dependencies) does not contain the font deja-vu-sans-Font. The file is in ttf-dejavu-core, but is no dependency of plymouth (but of vlc).
So, if you install a ubuntu without vlc (e.g. because of own packaging), plymouth will show no messages on bootup, but little little boxes instead of characters.

This bug is around since lucid (plymouth 0.8.2-2ubuntu2)
