Sorry for the inconvinience: Dependencies.txt is about dpkg, not grub.

  After unmounting /dev/sdb2 (on an external USB connected HDD, which
  starts with the system and mounted automatically by fstab, it is not
  bootable, only used for backups) it managed to configure the generic
  kernel.
