Title:
update fails after 30_os-prober was manually edited

Status in “grub2” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: grub2

  I'm using Ubuntu 9.10
Updating grub-pc from version 1.97~beta4-1ubuntu3 to version 1.97~beta4-1ubuntu4 fails. While using version 1.97~beta4-1ubuntu3 I had manually edited /etc/grub.d/10_linux and /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober to make the menu entries look nicer. version 1.97~beta4-1ubuntu4 asked me what I would like to do about the discrepancy, and I chose to overwrite with the package maintainer's version, since I didn't mind making my edits again, then it froze. I also chmod -x 20_memtest86+
