Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with your installation media (CD/DVD).
Please retry your installation with new media and if it still fails I'd
recommend testing your CD drive with other media. In the event that is
is not in fact an error with your installation media please set the
bug's status back to New. Thanks and good luck!

Title:
Xubuntu 9.10 ran out of disk space while installing OpenOffice.org

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Xubuntu failed while installing OOo??? Why is Xubuntu even trying to
install OOo? This may be related to bug #312491, but that doesn't
explain why there was a failure installing something that isn't
supposed to be installed in the first place.

If this is related to bug #312491, note that I had 2.5GiB
unpartitioned space (which is why I was using Xubuntu). The Get
Xubuntu page (http://xubuntu.org/get) indicates only 2GB of free space
is required on the hard disk. I do not yet know the state of the
installation (since I'm still running off of the live CD), but using
GParted to look at how things ended up, I see that installation
  created a 2.34GiB ext4 partition and a 172.54MiB swap partition. The
ext4 partition shows 2.32GiB used--more than the total space
supposedly required to install Xubuntu in the first place.

This is my third report relating to this installation: see bug
#291287 comment #10, and bug #494628. I have three more "problem"
dialogues displayed at the moment, but this will be the last bug I
submit for now--I suspect all these errors are due to the same root
cause. Anyway, the other three state the following:

  1) Sorry, the package "openoffice.org-draw 1:3.1.1-5ubuntu1" failed to install or upgrade.
  2) Sorry, the package "openoffice.org-writer 1:3.1.1-5ubuntu1" failed to install or upgrade.
  3) Sorry, the program "devkit-disks-daemon" closed unexpectedly
