This is a duplicate of the following bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/346386. One way to
workaround this is to install in a different location without a proxy
server that'll return junk. Another way may be to choose not install
updates or codecs when installing Ubuntu. Another way would be to
update apt on the Live CD before starting the installer. A final way
would be to install 11.10 but that's still an Alpha.

Title:
Natty installation failed
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
This is filed on behalf of someone who wrote into
feedback at launchpad.net (see
https://support.one.ubuntu.com/Ticket/Display.html?id=4117).
"""
To whom it may concern:
I couldn't log into Launchpad. I was trying to install Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty
Narwhal) onto a Dell Latitude D610, and the installation stopped just before
the end, and told me to send these 2 files to
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+filebug.
/var/log/syslog
and
/var/log/partman
So this is the best I can do.
Sincerely,
(Ms.) T. L. Haworth
