Title:
gksu password prompt returns no error if password incorrect

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager

When using update-manager, if an incorrect password is entered after
clicking 'Check' or 'Install Updates', no error is given.

  Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open update-manager
  2. Click 'Check' or, if updates are available, 'Install Updates'
  3. Enter an incorrect password when prompted.
  4. Your action is cancelled with no notification that the password was incorrect.

This behaviour could cause users to believe, if checking, that no new
updates are available, or if installing updates, that the system is
unable to install the updates for reasons that refers from invalid
  credentials.
