Title:
Update-manager does not restore original sources.list when upgrade
  fails

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager

Update-manager does not restore original sources.list when upgrade
fails. An upgrade to 11.04 was attempted, without realisation that the
system was missing some updates. As such, the upgrade did not
actualise. However, the /etc/apt/sources.list file was not reverted
to the original one, thus resulting in some dependency problems when
an update was run later on.

The original repositories file had to be manually restored from the
  sources.list.save file.
